FEAR OF FAILURE

Does your child have anxiety before practice? If your a gymnast do
your hands sweat as your feet feel the cold floor as you walk to the
beam?
This is common and it is usually a fear of failure. This is a
common anxiety of doing a new skill or even competing at all
that many gymnast face.
So, how can you attack this? First, you need to figure out what
is causing the anxiety. Whether it is a well needed break, a fear
of a new skill, lack of confidence when competing, or an over
load of pressure this is correctable
Lastly, once you know what is causing the problem you can act
accordingly whether it is extra time in the gym to build confid-
ence, or less open gyms and private lessons to get a break and
have some fun.
Gymnastics is a year round sport. Sometimes a break is neces-
sary especially at the end of season, as we are coming up on State
at the end of March!
GOOD LUCK GIRLS!!

This is a very crucial aspect to performance! Can also be attributed to something outside of the gym. I think talking about it is definitely the best way to conquer it.
ReplyDeleteCompeting in front or just out being in front of people makes me nervous when I play in tennis tournaments.
